Reliable enterprise hosting

This is my third server with BlueServers. I've used their Enterprise Server Hosting before and this time got a Storage Optimized Server. Consistency is key for me, and they've always delivered. Setup times are predictable, and the hardware is reliable. I appreciate the DDoS protection; it's saved us headaches more than once. Their network uptime has been solid across all my services. It's why I keep coming back, they just work.

Good server, setup a bit slow

I ordered an Intel Xeon Dedicated Server for a new project. The performance has been solid, exactly what I needed for our application. The pricing for the specs was competitive, especially with the first-month discount. However, setup took almost 24 hours, which felt a little long. I've had faster provisioning from other providers, but once it was up, everything ran smoothly. Customer support was responsive when I inquired about the setup time.

Dual Xeon E5-2683v4 Review

I recently purchased a Dual Intel Xeon E5-2683v4 server from BlueServers. The ordering process on their website was straightforward, I selected my configuration and had no issues checking out. I opted for Linux Dedicated Hosting. Setup time was about 18 hours, which was within their stated window, but I was eager to get started. Once provisioned, I received an email with all login details and IP addresses. I tested the 10Gbps connectivity and it's been consistently fast. Support for a minor networking question was handled quickly through their ticketing system, they responded in under an hour. The server itself is robust and handles all my virtualization needs without a hitch. The NVMe storage is incredibly quick. Everything feels well-documented, too.

Value for money server

I was looking for a cost-effective solution for a new development environment and found BlueServers. I grabbed a 1Gbps Dedicated Server during a promo. The annual billing discount made it quite affordable compared to monthly options. Setup was free, which was a nice bonus. I was really trying to keep costs down without sacrificing too much power. This server delivered. The price-to-performance ratio feels good, and it's been stable. Definitely felt like a smart purchase for my budget.

Thinking of switching my high-traffic e-commerce site to BlueServers. Currently with Hetzner but looking for better DDoS protection and more scalable options. Any thoughts on how they compare, especially for unmetered traffic servers?

S SanjayM 1 week ago
I moved from OVH to BlueServers for a similar reason last year. The DDoS protection is definitely more robust. Haven't had any major incidents since. Plus, their unmetered traffic servers actually mean unmetered, unlike some others.

V VikramJ 1 week ago
Good to hear! Was worried about the 'unmetered' fine print.

K Kiran 1 week ago
OVH's DDoS is good too, but sometimes their support can be slow.

I'm on a 10Gbps dedicated server with BlueServers and traffic has never been an issue. For high-traffic, I'd say they're solid. Hetzner is good for value, but BlueServers feels more enterprise-grade in terms of support and network.

That's a strong point. Support is key for me.

Thinking about getting a storage optimized server from BlueServers for a new project. Anyone have experience with their NVMe Dedicated Servers? How do they compare to their regular TB Servers for I/O performance?

R RahulK 4 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
NVMe is definitely faster, no question. If your application is I/O heavy, it's worth the extra cost. I moved my database server to NVMe and saw a huge difference.

R RahulK 4 weeks ago
Absolutely. Page load times, database queries... everything just flies. Regular HDDs just can't keep up.

S Sneha 4 weeks ago
Yeah, that's what I figured. Is the difference really noticeable for, say, a high-traffic e-commerce site?
7
A AmitM 4 weeks ago
I'm on a TB Server now and it's fine for my needs (backup and archiving), but I'm not doing anything super intensive. Never tried their NVMe myself.
11
S Sneha 4 weeks ago
Good to know. My use case is more real-time data processing, so speed is key.
7
T TechFreak 4 weeks ago
I'd check the specific NVMe drive models they offer. Not all NVMe are created equal. Sometimes their support can give you the exact specs if you ask.

S Sneha 4 weeks ago
That's a smart idea, didn't think of that. Thanks!

Just got my first dedicated server from BlueServers, an Intel Xeon E5-2683v4. Setup took way longer than I expected, almost 6 hours. Is this normal or did I mess something up?

D Deepak91 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
I've had varying setup times, from 1 hour to 5 hours. Depends on the datacenter location and current load maybe. Hope it's working well now!

R RaviK 1 month ago
It's up and running now thankfully. Just was a bit unexpected.

6 hours sounds a bit much unless you had a really specific OS install or something. Did you check the 'Setup Time' section on their product page? Sometimes it gives an estimate.
12
R RaviK 1 month ago
I thought it said instant setup for standard, but maybe I misread. Following up with support now.

P PriyaM 1 month ago
Mine was ready in about 2-3 hours. Did you choose a custom configuration? That can sometimes add to the setup time.
10
R RaviK 1 month ago
Nah, pretty standard config. Just Linux dedicated hosting. Maybe a busy day for them?

Could be. My 1Gbps Dedicated Server was up in under 4 hours.

Thinking about getting a server from BlueServers but also looking at OVH. How do they stack up, especially for performance or support?

O Omar 1 month ago
I used OVH before and switched to BlueServers. BlueServers' support has been way more responsive in my experience, and the performance is on par if not better for my specific workload.
3
J Julia 1 month ago
It's a tough call, both are solid. BlueServers definitely feels a bit more premium in terms of hardware options and I've heard their DDoS protection is top-notch. OVH can be cheaper sometimes, but you get what you pay for.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to actually get a dedicated server provisioned once you order? Need something fast for a project.

L Lisa 2 months ago
Mine was ready in a few hours, pretty quick honestly. I think it depends on the config but the standard ones are usually fast.

W Wendy 2 months ago
Yeah, I remember reading somewhere on their site that setup is pretty quick for most servers, like within 24 hours. If you need something really custom, it might take a bit longer though.

What's the deal with payment methods? Can I pay with PayPal or just credit cards?

J Josh 2 months ago
They take most major credit cards, I paid with Visa. Not sure about PayPal offhand, I think I saw it as an option.

M Megan 2 months ago
I'm pretty sure they accept a few different options, not just cards. You'll see all the choices when you go through the checkout process.

Are there ever any deals for first-time customers or for signing up for a year? I'm trying to cut costs wherever I can.

T Troy V. 1 month ago
Yeah, they almost always have a first-month discount. Also, if you pay annually, you usually get a pretty good chunk off, like 10-25% I think.

Keep an eye out around Black Friday or Cyber Monday too, that's when I snagged a sweet deal last year. They have promo codes you enter at checkout.

Just got my Dual Intel Xeon E5-2683v4 server set up from BlueServers. The setup time was way faster than I expected, like seriously quick. I was bracing for a day or two, but it was ready in a few hours. Anyone else have such a speedy experience?

D Deepak91 3 weeks ago
Mine was also quick, but I had a basic Linux dedicated hosting plan. For something like a Dual Xeon, that's impressive. Did you customize the hardware much?
12
R RaviK 3 weeks ago
Not heavily. Just added some extra NVMe storage. Still, thought that would add delays.

Yeah, their setup times are usually pretty good for dedicated servers. I got a 1Gbps one last month and it was online within 4-5 hours. What OS did you go with?

Ubuntu Server 22.04. Super smooth install.

Mine took almost 8 hours for a custom config. Guess it depends.
